FAQs

What is mobile Physical Therapy?

This is a model of physical therapy where we come to you. We will bring equipment and a wealth of knowledge to your house, office (with employer approval), the gym, the park, out in nature somewhere… Wherever you need to treat towards accomplishing your goals!

What kind of treatments can you do with mobile physical therapy?

Almost any treatment you could do in a clinic! Treatments involving gait, balance, general mobility, return to sport, manual therapy in the treatment of pain or immobility, and many types of exercise prescription to get you back on the road to recovery.

Why don’t you take my insurance?

We would like to decide with you exactly what you need in terms of treatment, as opposed to letting an insurance company decide. Within our model you will pay for your physical therapy services and will receive a receipt that you may use to submit to your insurance company to be reimbursed directly. Why do we do this? By leaving the sometimes restrictive insurance model out of our practice we are able to spend 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes one on one with our patients. That’s 4x longer than some PT clinic models, meaning your get more treatment for each session and get back to your life faster and it sometimes can end up costing less in the long run!

How can it possibly be cheaper than traditional PT?

It really depends on your insurance plan but many plans these days have 40 or 50 dollar copays. If you see PT in a traditional clinic 16 times (2 x a week for 8 weeks is a very common prescription) with a $50 copay you would pay $800 total throughout treatment. If you have a deductible and are require to pay out of pocket until it is met, traditional PT is ~$200 per session equating to ~$3200. If you saw us 6 times (1 x a week for 6 weeks is very common for us) at $120 a session that is $720, with some of that potentially reimbursed to you. If you would like to investigate your specific plan, we have created a document to help with that conversation which you can download here.

How many treatments will I need to get better?

This one is difficult because it is entirely dependent on what is going on with you in terms of diagnosis and with you as a whole person. What we can say is because we spend so much one on one time at each visit you will get better faster than in a traditional clinic.

Will I have to stop my regular activities or sport while seeing a physical therapist?

Most often the answer to this is no but we may have you modify frequency or intensity while we work on form. Most often we work within your range of abilities and build up from there with any mobility or sport retraining. Very occasionally we would ask for a short period of non-exacerbation.

Do I need a prescription?

In the State of Arizona you do not need a script for the majority of treatments performed. If you plan to submit your receipts for reimbursement your insurance company may require a script. Please see above for our downloadable worksheet for insurance benefits.
